Late nights and big Horsepower!

Ok everyone, this is my first attempt at blogging. Is that even a word? It's currently 12:20am on wednesday morning and i am just getting ready to head home and work on the race car. Ok by the time i finish this and get home it will be 1am, and i probably will not get much accomplished on the car. This is definately crunch time in the engine shop. Late hours, and supposedly alot of work completed so everyone can make it to the first race. Just moments ago i completed the finishing touches on another bad small block. Picture included. Only 20 more to finish in the next six weeks, by my caculations that's 25 hours a day until march.

As far as the race team goes, alot is happening. I put Lisa Bingham to work on my advertising and public relations, Don Shuford has started his "looking great in 2008" annual get to the track raffle(more to come on this) and is currently courting some popssible new sponsors, and i am trying to make enough money to afford to put fuel in the new transporter(more on this later). The cavalier is not ready, the engine is not ready, the transmission needs a freshen, the transporter needs completion, and the driver needs a rest. Cant wait until the Rock! Stay tuned.

Welcome to the first Blog!

Welcome to Wilkins Motorsports Blog. This is something Sandy and I have wanted to do for some time. The question is, will we take the time to make consistent entries? Sure we will.

My name is Don Shuford and I live just outside Hickory, NC. I have been helping Sandy at the track for about three years. I also help with the website, but I am not the designer. That title goes to my friend Chad Austin. He doesn't know anything about drag racing, so that is where I come in. Chad is the lead guitar player and singer in a band called The Logic as well as a web design guru. Very talented. We we do a blog on him in the near future.

I drove my wife Teresa down to Colombia, SC last night so she could attend a seminar for her job today. That leaves me with a lot of free time to make this first entry. So like all sports fans, I drove down to the South Carolina Gamecocks football stadium to get a few pictures. I walked into the office to ask if I could take a few pics of the stadium and out of the elevator walks coach Steve Spurrier. He looks at me and says, Good Morning. I reply, Good Morning Coach! And he walks away. What an idiot! I had my camera in my hand and could have easily asked the secretary to take our picture. What an idiot I am! So here is a boring pic of the stadium. What an idiot!

Time to go eat some lunch. Sandflea will probably be doing the next blog now that we have it up and running. Who knows what to expect from him. The man's crazy. I will fill you in on him later. He does have some big news! Stay tuned!
